Jerry Lee Calendine, 58, of Dover, died Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at his home following a two year battle with cancer.A son of Helen (Affolter) Calendine and the late Elmer Calendine, Jerry was born January 31, 1949 at Dover, Ohio.He was a 1967 graduate of Dover High School. Following graduation, Jerry enlisted with the United States Army and served in Frankfort, Germany for three years as a military police officer.Jerry was employed at Arizona Chemical at Dover where he worked as a mechanic for over 28 years. Jerry also enjoyed woodworking and metalworking.He is survived by his mother, Helen Calendine of Dover; aunts, Martha (Bob) Dillon and Doddie (Ben) Bucher both of New Philadelphia, Mary Calendine of Hiddenight, North Carolina and Betty June Swonger of Dover; uncles, Ben (Doris) of Texas City, Texas, Jim (Hazel) Affolter of Frankfort, Indiana and Ed (Betty) Affolter of Troy, Ohio and numerous cousins.Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Calendine who passed away in 1977; his grandparents, Della and Jess Calendine and Homer and Olive Affolter.Family and friends may call on Friday, June 1, 2007 from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover with the funeral service, officiated by Rev. Hugh Berry, following at 11 a.m. Following the service, a memorial reception will be held in the Hospitality Room of the Geib Funeral Center. Inurnment will be held at a later date.The family suggests memorial contributions be made in Jerry’s honor to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 West Third Street, Dover, Ohio 44622.
