Jerry L. Shull

Jerry L. Shull, 73 of Canton, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, March 10, 2016 at Aultman Hospital in Canton.

A son of the late Harvey and Gladys (Zurcher) Shull, Jerry was born May 31, 1942 at Union Hospital in Dover, Ohio.

After graduation from New Philadelphia High School in 1960, Jerry went on to serve in the United States Navy.  He served for 6 years and spent time on the USS Independence.  He retired after 36 years of service from the Hoover Company as a tool and die maker.

Jerry had numerous hobbies that included fishing, camping, being outdoors.  He also enjoyed restoring cars, wood working and home improvement projects.  His biggest joys in life were his family and grandchildren; with whom he enjoyed spending a great deal of time.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife Jane (Culp) Shull, whom he married on November 14, 1964; two daughters, Lori (Ron) Obermiller of Canton and Wendy (Richard) Strouse of Louisville; four grandchildren, Ryan and Brandon Obermiller and Nicole and Erin Strouse as well as many special friends and relatives.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 13, 2016 from 2 – 5 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia.  A funeral service will be held Monday, March 14, 2016 at 10:30 AM in the Jerusalem Church at New Philadelphia with Pastor Matt Baker officiating.  Burial will follow in Jerusalem Cemetery at New Philadelphia.
