Jerry Joseph Dolzine, age 69, of Dover, passed away Friday, February 4, 2011 in his home with his family at his side.Born in New Philadelphia on April 23, 1941, he was the son of the late Julius Wayne and Feula Veronica (Mattioni) Dolzine.After graduating from St. Joseph High School in 1959, Jerry attended Kent State University. Then, he honorably served his country in the United States Air Force. During his service, he married the love of his life, the former Trudy Winzer, at Sacred Heart Church in New Philadelphia on May 25, 1963.Jerry’s professional career began in Akron, OH where he spent 28 years in the computer field. After living 8 years in Ellet and 19 years in Norton Ohio, he and Trudy moved back to Dover in 1993, where they owned and operated Fundays for 10 years. Most recently, Jerry was employed as an IT specialist for Pearl Valley Cheese in Fresno, OH. In addition to his family, Jerry had a love for his Goldwing motorcycle. In 1995, he began riding as an active member of the Goldwing Road Riders Association, Chapter L2. Over the years Jerry, Trudy and their chapter friends traveled throughout the United States, most recently to Bar Harbor, Maine last summer. He was also a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.Jerry will be deeply missed by his family including his wife, Trudy; his sons, David (Dorrine) Dolzine of McKinney, TX and Brian (Amy) Dolzine of Hudson, OH; his daughter, Connie (Dan) Zook of Fort Walton Beach, FL; his grandchildren, Jackie Zook, Sydnie Dolzine, and Lucy Dolzine; his sisters, Janice Smith of North Canton, and Cathy (Tom) Ketterer of Cold Springs, KY; and his brother Theodore (Gwyn) Dolzine of Havede Grace, MD.Visitation will be held in the Geib Funeral Center, 5600 N. Wooster Ave., Dover on Friday, February 11, 2011 from 5 to 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Matt Hoover in St. Joseph Catholic Church on Saturday, February 12, 2011 beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Dover Burial Park. Friends and family are invited back to the Geib Funeral Center at Dover’s hospitality room, where a meal will be shared following the committal service.Memorial contributions in Jerry’s name may be directed to either Community Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 W. 3rd St., Dover, OH 44622 or to the Ohio Cancer Research Associates, 50 W Broad St. #1132, Columbus, OH 43215-3388.
