Jerry Lee Grove, age 70, of Tuscarawas, died Saturday, April 09, 2016, in Beacon Pointe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at Uhrichsville following a lengthy illness.
A son of the late Albert Henry and Georgia Ann (Briggs) Grove, Jerry was born on August 3, 1945 in Union Hospital at Dover.
Jerry was a graduate of the former Tuscarawas-Warwick High School and married the love of his life, the former Kathleen Rummell on June 1, 1968. For 16 years, he worked for the Ohio Department of Transportation on the survey crew.
In addition to being an avid fisherman, Jerry also enjoyed trap shooting. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the New Philadelphia Lodge 177 F& AM, and a member of the Canton Valley Scottish Rite. He adored his granddaughters and loved supporting their sporting and 4-H activities.
Jerry will be deeply missed by his wife, Kathleen; their son, Scott (Leigh Maple) Grove of Gnadenhutten; two granddaughters, Chelsea and Ciara Grove; a step-brother, George Briggs, Jr. of New Philadelphia; two uncles, Robert (Wilma) Briggs of New Philadelphia and Jerry (Rita) Briggs of Mentor as well as numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by an aunt, Norma Kohler and an uncle, George “Howard” Briggs.
The family will greet guests on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 from 4-7 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A Masonic Lodge of Sorrow will begin at 7 PM; immediately following, Pastor John Gibson will lead a service celebrating Jerry’s life in the funeral home’s chapel. Cremation will take place through the care of Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory.
