Jerald L. Oney, 58, of Dellroy, passed away Friday morning, December 19, 2003, in his cabin after a short, courageous battle with cancer. Son of Maxine and the late John W. Oney of Pleasant City, he was born in Cambridge on January 21, 1945. A resident of the Canton and New Philadelphia area for 50 years, Jerry was a graduate of Perry High School and Ohio University. He was a supervisor at The Timken Company for more than 30 years. After retirement, he was employed by Hertz Rental. Jerry enjoyed the outdoors , especially boating. From the time he was a little boy, he dreamed of a cabin in the woods-and his dream came true. He is survived by his long time partner, Christine Keister of the home; his mother, Maxine Oney of Pleasant City; daughters, Christine (Leroy) Yoder of Sugarcreek and Melissa (Dallas) Oney of Stone Creek; brothers, Don (Judy) Oney, Larry (Cindy) Oney, and Bob (Janet) Oney; a sister, Shirley (Greg) Jackson. In addition, he is survived by his aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and Christine’s children and grandchildren. Cremation has taken place through the local care of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory.
