Jeffrey W. Maxwell

Jeffrey W. Maxell, age 66, of Tuscarawas, died early Monday morning, in Union Hospital at Dover following a period of declining health.

A son of Libby Stewart of Tuscarawas, Jeff was born at Twin City Hospital at Dennison, on January 29, 1946.

Jeff was a graduate of the former Tuscarawas-Warwick High School. He was a talented carpenter who worked on building and remodeling many homes throughout the area.

Additionally, Jeff was a social member of the Tuscarawas VFW Post #7943 and the Uhrichsville Moose. In his spare time, he enjoyed canoeing, fishing, trapping turtles and bowling.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his children, Pam (John) Ashleman of Uhrichsville, Sue (fiancé, Dave Brink) Garbrandt of New Philadelphia, and Jeff Maxwell, Jr. of Los Angeles, California; grandchildren, Matthew (Charlotte) Schaar of Linden, North Carolina, Jason (Lyn) Garbrandt of Columbus, Georgia, Courtney Garbrandt of Uhrichsville, Raygan Brink and Carmie Brink both of New Philadelphia and two great-grandchildren, Colt Schaar and Lydia Garbrandt.

Jeff was preceded in death by his father, George Eckfield, step-father, John Maxwell, Sr., a brother, John Maxwell, Jr. and a grandson, Brian Schaar.

The family will receive guests prior to services on Friday, October 5, 2012 in the St. James Lutheran Church at Tuscarawas from 10:30 -11:00 AM. The Reverend A. Wallace Anderson will lead a service celebrating Jeff’s life on Friday in the church at 11:00 AM. Inurnment will follow in the St. James Lutheran Cemetery.

Following services the family wishes to invite guests to join them in the social hall of St. James Lutheran Church where a meal and fellowship will be shared.

Memorial contributions in Jeff’s memory may be directed to Community Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 716 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
