Jeffrey James Sills, 64, of Dover died Tuesday, August 8, 2017 in Aultman Hospital at Canton following a sudden illness.
A son of the late Frank and Mary (Schwindling) Sills, Jeff was born at Canton on March 15, 1953.
He was a 1971 graduate of Canton South High School and was employed by Timken Steel for 35 years prior to his retirement in 2009.
Jeff was an avid golfer who loved traveling to various courses and league play. He loved his Goldendoodle, Miles, and taking him on walks. Jeff also enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading and cheering on the Cleveland Browns, Cavaliers, Baltimore Orioles, and The Ohio State University sports teams.
He will be missed by his wife, Laura Sills, whom he married on May 27, 1988; children, Erica Sills, Danielle (Scott) Lamitina, Luke (Rebekah) Howard, and Brady (Stacy) Howard; grandchildren, Brynn, Chandler, Aubrey, Emma, and Leah; his sister, Pam (Dave) Miller of Louisville; his brother, Todd (Linda) Sills of Canton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jeff was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank Sills, who was killed while serving in Vietnam, and William Sills.
The family will greet guests on Saturday, August 12, 2017 from 11:30-1:30 PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover where Pastor Brian Flood will lead a service celebrating Jeff’s life at 1:30 PM. Burial will follow in Dover Burial Park. Following services, all are invited to share in a meal in the Hospitality Room of the Dover Geib Center.
