Jeffrey J. Smith, affectionately known as “Jeff or “JJ” to family and friends who knew and loved him, age 50, passed away unexpectedly September 6, 2015.
Jeff was born on July 18, 1965. He graduated from Hoover High School in 1983 and Rio Grande College in 1987 with a degree in Hospitality Management before beginning his career as a General Manager at several well-known restaurants. He was a veteran of the Ohio Army National Guard.
Jeff enjoyed hunting and preparing Thanksgiving dinners. He was an avid sports fan who loved Ohio State, the Browns and taking family and friends to Cleveland Indians games. He worked on the chain crew for all the Hoover home football games. He was caring and compassionate with a great sense of humor. He was always willing to lend a helping hand.
He is survived by his parents John and Betty Smith of North Canton, brother John of Marion, Arkansas, sister Julie (Tim) Barnett of Stow, sister Jill of Stow, nephews Timothy and Matthew Barnett, niece Jordan Smith, Uncle Gene Baker, special friend Robin Phillips and her son Leon and the family dog Josie.
Calling hours will take place on Thursday, September 10 at 6pm with a memorial service to follow at 7pm at Trinity Baptist Church in North Canton. All are welcome to attend and share a memory of Jeff. Pastor Jon Lobos and Rev. Gordon L. Thomas officiating.
