Jeannette L. Wood, 91, of Dover and formerly New Philadelphia, passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2020 in Union Hospital at Dover following a recent illness
A daughter of the late Herman Nolan and Adeline Milla (Mabry) Stephens, Jeannette was born February 23, 1929 in Amsterdam, Ohio.
Jeannette graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1947. On May 19. 1951, she married Robert C. Wood and the couple shared 52 years of marriage prior to his passing on November 6, 2003.
She was an avid Cleveland Indians fan and she was also a supporter of high school athletics. Jeannette was extremely talented in the kitchen and was an outstanding baker and cook. She was also a talented sewer and made many wonderful quilts over the years. She was known for her sassy and direct personality who only ever saw things in black and white, but that is exactly what so many people loved in her.
Jeannette had many lifelong friends whom she dearly cherished and more than anything she loved her family and taking care of them.
She is survived by her children, Debra (Tom) Miller of Dover, Robert (Darlene) Wood of Trenton, Florida, Harry (Chris) Wood of Strasburg and Larry (Lisa) Wood of Dover; her grandchildren, Brock (Doris) Miller, Jenny (Clinton) Armstrong, Mark (Brittany) Miller, Stephanie (Dave) Herington, Hollie (Mark) Vugrinovich, Eric (Angela Kochur) Wood, Nathan (Jaclyn) Wood and Alexandria (Tyler Maffo) Wood; her great-grandchildren, Hannah, Brooke and John Miller, Katie and Natalie Armstrong, Andrew, Gabe and Anne Miller, Sophia, Madison and Jackson Herington, Sydney, Ryker and Wyatt Wood and Kaden, Kenzi, Brynlee and Beckham Wood and her siblings, James (Patty) Stephens of Bolivar, Robert (Pat) Stephens of Doraville, Georgia and Frederic (Jo) Stephens of Howard, Ohio.
Jeannette was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert; a granddaughter, Angel Miller and her siblings, Richard Stephens, Christina Wustefeld and Orval Stephens.
In keeping with Jeannette’s wishes, there will be no public services and interment will take place in Dover Burial Park.
