Jeanne Elizabeth (Thomas) Francis, passed away on August 12, 2010, in Union Hospital at Dover. She gave so much and asked for so little. Her strong will, quick wit, and amazing blue eyes will be missed by all.Born at New Philadelphia on May 22, 1925, she is preceded in death by her parents, John and Carrie (Fackler) Thomas; sister, Margaret Campbell and her son Mark David Francis. A 1943 graduate of New Philadelphia High School, Jeanne’s creativity flourished throughout her employment as a decorator for Miller’s Studio in the 1940’s. A tireless advocate of community service, she touched many lives through her involvement with T4C, Tuscarawas County Young Republicans, Mobile Meals, and the Tuscarawas County Election Board. She was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church at New Philadelphia, where she contributed many volunteer hours over the years.She is survived by her soul mate, astrological twin, and husband of 65 years, Glenn, who has devoted so much loving attention to her care. Other survivors include daughters; Cynthia (Samuel) Reynolds, of Clinton, OH, and Kim (John) Straub, of Austin, TX; grandchildren, Beth (John) Cameron, of New Philadelphia, Brooke and Bert Straub, both of Austin, TX, Wendy (Walt) Callam, of Chagrin Falls, OH, and Michelle (Robert) Jackson, of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; step grandsons, Samuel Reynolds and James (Jenna) Reynolds, all of Chicago, Il; great grandchildren, Lauren and Dylan Cameron, of New Philadelphia, Alexis and Juliette Callam, of Chagrin Falls, OH; and a sister, Dorothy Paulus, of Tuscarawas.At Jeanne’s request, cremation has taken place under the care and direction of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. The family will receive guests on Wednesday, August 18, 2010, from 6:30 to 8:30 PM in the funeral home. Rev. Dr. Steven Bailey will lead a memorial service on Thursday, August 19, 2010, at 10:00 AM in the First United Methodist Church, at New Philadelphia. Following the service, the family will share in a meal and fellowship in the church social hall. Inurnment will follow at 1:30 PM on Thursday in the Western Reserve National Cemetery at Rittman, OH. Those unable to attend are invited to view an online memorial or send personal condolences by visiting the funeral home’s website.The family requests that memorial contributions in Jeanne’s memory be directed to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund, 210 W.
