Jeanne E. Swinderman, 87, a long time resident of New Philadelphia, died Saturday, January 28, 2006, at New Dawn Retirement Community in Dover.A daughter of the late Thomas J. and Leona Shonk Baker, Jeanne was born January 14, 1919, in New Philadelphia, O.She was a 1936 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and was a member of the First United Church of Christ in New Philadelphia. Jeanne had worked at the former W.T. Grant’s store in New Philadelphia and J.C. Penney’s.She was devoted to her family and enjoyed camping, fishing and playing cards and games with her grandchildren. Jeanne was an avid golfer, and quilter, she did crocheting and sewing and generously shared her handiwork with others. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara J. and Thomas C. White, of New Philadelphia; a son and daughter-in-law, C. Tom and Carlene Swinderman, of Dover; six grandchildren, Kevin Swinderman of Naples, Fl., Terri (Ronald) Smith, of Dover, Duane Swinderman, of Dover, Sue (Troy) Kahler, of Bolivar, Scott White, of Uhrichsville and Jodi (Charles) Davis, of Dover;12 great grandchildren, Korey, Kaley, and Kaleb Swinderman, Tyler, Travis and Kyle Kahler, Nicole and Hunter Smith, Devin and Derik Swinderman, and Conner and Garret Davis; many nieces; nephews and friends.Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald L. Swinderman, whom she married September 19, 1937 and who died in 1993; and five sisters.Visitation will be Monday, January 30, 2006 from 6 to 8 p.m., and an hour prior to the services, in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory, in New Philadelphia. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Hugh Berry on Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib chapel.
