Jeanette J. Jenkins

MISS JEANETTE J. JENKINS, 84, of Dover, died Thursday evening, September 26, 2002 in Dover. Born October 6, 1917, she was a daughter of the late Charlie and Elizabeth Wassem Jenkins. She graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1935. During World War II Miss Jenkins served with the U. S. Air Force as a W.A.S.P. (Women’s Airforce Service Pilot) and was honorably discharged in 1944. Following her military service she worked for the Timken Roller Bearing Company in New Philadelphia, retiring in 1978. Miss Jenkins was a charter member of the New Philadelphia Airport Commission, on which she served for fourteen years. She is suvived by two nephews, Tom (Mary) Long of Oklahoma City, OK and Steve (Gloria) Long of Vancouver, WA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Annabel Long. Cremation will be through the care of Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory. The graveside service will be held in October and will be announced later.
