Jean M. Evans

Jean Marie Evans, 95, of New Philadelphia, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2022.

Born in Massillon, Ohio on March 31, 1927, she was the daughter of the late John and Helen (Bagsnean) Haiduc.

After graduating from high school, Jean worked for 26 years at the Hoover Company in North Canton, retiring in 1988.

She was the loving wife of the late Randall J. Evans who preceded her in passing in 1973. Jean and Randy were blessed with the birth of their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She adored her family and cherished time spent with them. When there was a birth or wedding in her family, she gifted the individual with a beautiful crocheted afghan.

Her family includes children, Melanie (Mike) Luke of Port Clinton, O., Amy (Michael) Gutshall of North Canton, Bradley (Heather) Evans, Randall Evans, and Cary (Lisa) Evans, all of New Philadelphia; her son-in-law, Bruce Leaman of North Canton; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren with two expected in the spring.

In addition to her parents and husband, Jean was preceded in passing by her beloved daughter, Chrisann Leaman in 2021; siblings, Charles, Sam, and Nick Haiduc, Ann Hoffner, and Helen Silea.

Father Jeff Coning will celebrate a Memorial Mass at Sacred Heart Church on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at 2 p.m. Visitation will be held in the church from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the mass.
