Jean Ellen Stevenson

Jean Ellen Stevenson, 87, of Dover and formerly of New Philadelphia, died Thursday, January 15, 2015 in Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia following a period of declining health.

A daughter of the late Clifford and Rose (Uher) Beans, Jean was born November 15, 1927 at Roswell, Ohio.

Jean graduated from Midvale High School and was retired as the Office Manager of the former Hurst Insurance Agency where she worked for more than 30 years. She was also a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church at New Philadelphia.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jane Ann and Jay Benko; her grandchildren, Christopher (Ginny) Benko, Todd Benko and Scott Benko; great grandchildren, Ashton and Riley Benko and Jenna Armstrong all of Virginia Beach, Virginia; a brother-in-law, Dave Stevenson of Dover and many nieces and nephews.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John William Stevenson and three sisters, Dana Krebs, Norma Stevenson and Kay Day.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 19, 2015 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Jean’s life will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Tim McCollum officiating. Burial will follow in East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia. Following the committal service a luncheon will be held in the Geib Family Center at New Philadelphia.
