Jason M. Barcus, 47, of New Philadelphia, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002.Born July 2, 1954, in Dover, he was a son of the late Paul and Dorothy Lemonte Barcus. Jason graduated in 1973 from New Philadelphia High School, and had been employed by the Goshen Dairy Co., New Philadelphia for twenty-five years.He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, New Philadelphia, and had also attended the Goshen Community Church of the Nazarene. Jason worked very hard with the New Philadelphia Band Boosters at fundraisers and accompanying the band to various events. Additionally, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle.Survivors include his wife, Karen S. Ludwig Barcus, whom he married July 24, 1976; two daughters, Katherine “Katie” Barcus of Dover, and Kristen Barcus at home; a step-son, Toby Stephen of Newcomerstown; two sisters, Melinda Barcus of Gnadenhutten, and Kerry Sue (Martin) Orr of Brightwood; three brothers, William (Linda) Barcus of Dover, Jeff (Laura) Barcus of Dennison, and Paul Barcus of Gnadenhutten; sister-in-law, Lynn (Dan) Davis of West Lafayette; brother-in-law, Bill (Connie) Ludwig of Fresno; several nieces and nephews, including two special nieces, Mandy Barcus of Schenectady, NY, and Jennifer Davis of Houston, TX.Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Vivian Barcus; and by two brothers, Franklin (his twin) and Terry Barcus.A funeral service will be held Monday, February 18, 2002, at 11 a.m., in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home, New Philadelphia. There will be a reception in the Geib Family Center immediately following the service. Visitation will be Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002, 2-5 p.m., in the funeral home.
