Janice Hawk

Janice M. “Cookie” Hawk, 82, of Strasburg, died Wednesday, May 10, 2017 in Hennis Care and Retirement Centre at Dover.

A daughter of the late Vallis House and the late Lucy Garnet (McCleary) Howell, Janice was born June 22, 1934 at Barnesville, Ohio.

Janice was a member of the First Christian Church at Dover and she managed her husband’s dental practice, John F. Hawk D.D.S., Inc. at Dover, for many years.

She enjoyed cooking, baking and taking care of her grandchildren. Most of all, Janice cherished her family and made it known to them that they were her world.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. John F. Hawk; her children, Susan (Jim) Chini of Strasburg, Carolyn (Ricky) Beasley of North Carolina and Beverly Hawk of Alabama; her grandchildren, Neil (Danielle) Chini of Colorado, Laura (Mike) Nodo of Massillon, James Beasley and John (Chessa) Beasley both of North Carolina and a great granddaughter, Brianna.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Walter Howell; an infant son, Timothy Eugene Martin, a brother, Bobby House and a sister, Nancy Foster.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 15, 2017 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover. A service celebrating Janice’s life will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Chris Mulpas officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Union Cemetery at Strasburg. A luncheon will follow in the Hospitality Room in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover.
