Janice (Janny) Hunter, 56, of New Philadelphia, died peacefully in her residence Sunday morning, March 16, 2003. Born February 3, 1947 in Barnhill, she was a daughter of the late William P. Hunter and Hazel G Fiester Hunter Hall.Janice was a member and attended worship at the New Life Center of Barnhill. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her young great nieces and nephews. A caregiver by profession, Janice was a nurse’s aid at the former Valley Manor of New Philadelphia prior to her retirement. Her family includes one brother; John E. (Lois) Hunter of New Philadelphia, four sisters, Shirley (Harold) Byers of Midvale, Emma (James) Canton of East Liverpool, O, Carolyn (Gabriel) Modany of Midland PA, and Alice (Charles) Henson of Norman, OK., a sister-in-law, MaryBelle Hunter, and a brother-in-law, Robert L. Moore Sr. both of New Philadelphia. Aunt Janice will be missed by numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews, especially her longtime caregiver and niece Gloria (Ron Sr.) Butler of Dover. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters. Friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 8 PM at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home, New Philadelphia. Pastor Fred Battles of the New Life Center will officiate a funeral service Wednesday at 11 in the chapel at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Ridgecrest Memorial Gardens. Following the committal service, a meal will be served in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the funeral home. The family requests that memorials be made to her place of worship, The New Life Center, 1865 Roxford Street SE, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
