Janet Souers

Janet Souers, 80, of Zoarville, went to be with The Lord, Tuesday, October 1, 2017 in the care of Community Hospice at New Philadelphia.
A daughter of the late Roy and Beatrice (Irwin) Potts, Janet was born April 22, 1937 at Akron, Ohio.

Janet was a unique woman with a giving heart. She spent her life devoted to her family as a stay-at-home mom. She was the best “nurse” to her children when they were sick and she was known for making her famous apple crisp. Janet also enjoyed shopping for others through catalogs and QVC.

Janet is survived by her four children, Kevin (Lori) Souers of Elyria, Renee (Robert) Bailey of Seagrove, North Carolina, Kelly (Troy) Bichsel of Dover, and Chad (Stephanie) Souers of Bolivar; 13 grandchildren, Elliott, Eliza, Emily, Ethan, Matthew, Amanda, Chelsea, Sierra, Joshua, Elliana, Madeline, Maci and Landon; four great-grandchildren, Ryan, Felicity, Gunnison and Sophia; a brother, Colonel Robert (Teresa) Potts; a sister, Patricia (Jim) Simms; and a fur baby, Timmy the Cat.

In addition to her parents, Janet is preceded in death by the only love of her life, Wilbur Souers, Jr., whom she married December 23, 1953; her daughter, Dawn Marie; her grandson, Zachary Ryan; and her brother, Donald Potts.

In keeping with the family’s wishes, there will be no public calling hours or services and cremation care will be handled through the care of Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory at Dover.
