Janet Ruth Bailey, age 75, of Hennis Care Center at Dover, died Saturday, April 14, 2012 following a long period of declining health.
A daughter of the late Lester W. and Margaret (Kane) McRobie, Janet was born on August 5, 1936 at Kingwood, West Virginia. She relocated to the Tuscarawas Valley where she enjoyed working & serving her customers at the Dutch Oven and L&K Restaurants in New Philadelphia. She was later employed by New Dawn Retirement Center at Dover as a nurse’s aide.
Janet’s greatest joy in life included visiting and sharing with her family, especially spending time with her grandchildren. Janet had a servant’s heart and a strong faith in the Lord. She depended on, and read scripture daily. Her favorite verse was Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord and lean not on your own understandings, in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path.”
Her family included a son, Robert “Bob” (Sue) Everhart of New Philadelphia, and two daughters, Pam (Jan) Byer of Canal Winchester, Ohio and Brenda (Dave) Little of Dover; three sisters, Wanda Paris, Arlene Parson, and Myrtle Walker all of New Philadelphia, and a brother, Lester (Charlotte) McRobie, Jr.
Janet’s grandchildren are Josh (Wendy) Everhart and great-granddaughter, Shelby of California; Stevi (Jack) Laughlin and great-grandson, Brandon Kiser of Strasburg; Tierney Jo Everhart of North Carolina; Zach (Rachel) Byer of Virginia; David Little and Kevin Little of Dover, and Devan Byer of Canal Winchester, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by three brothers-in-law; Louis Paris, Bruce Parson, and Terry Walker.
The family will greet guests on Saturday, May 5, 2012 from 1:00 – 2:00 PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover where Rev. Hugh B. Berry will lead a memorial service celebrating Janet’s life at 2:00 PM. Following the service, all are invited to participate in a scattering ceremony at the Dover Burial Park’s Scattering Garden, where Janet’s remains will be returned to the earth.
Immediately following, services, the family wishes to invite guests to join them as they return to the Geib Funeral Center Hospitality Room for a time of food and fellowship.
The family requests memorial contributions in Janet’s name to be directed to the Tuscarawas County Dog Pound, 441 University Drive, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663, in memory of her faithful friend, Thumper.
