Jane T. Lahmers

Jane T. Lahmers, age 80, of New Philadelphia, died Thursday, February 12, 2015 in Union Hospital at Dover.

Born near Warsaw, Ohio on March 5, 1934, Jane was a daughter of the late Donald and Lela (Guthrie) Johnston.

Jane was a 1952 graduate of Warsaw High School and a graduate of Western Union School at Indiana. Following her schooling, she spent three years with the firm prior to marrying her husband, Howard D. “Hank” Lahmers on March 12, 1955.

For many years, Jane assisted her husband in their businesses the former Lahmers Sunoco and 3 Way Car Wash at Dover and Quakertowne Laundry at New Philadelphia.

She was a longtime member of St. John’s United Church of Christ at Dover and in her free time, enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking, baking pies, and attending the sporting events of her grandchildren.

Jane leaves behind a family that includes three daughters; Amy (Rod) Miller, Gaye (Jeff) Clark and Gwyn (Dale) Anderson all of New Philadelphia and five grandchildren, Aaron and Natalie Miller, Ross Clark and Rachel Anderson of all New Philadelphia and Mitchell Clark of Charlotte, North Carolina.

In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Howard, who died on April 13, 2010; a sister, Janice Shryock, and a brother, Richard Johnston.

The family will greet guests on Sunday, February 15, 2015 from 2:00 – 5:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Reverend Carolyn Behrendt will lead a service celebrating Jane’s life in the funeral home’s chapel on Monday, February 16, 2015, at 1:30 PM. Burial alongside her husband will follow in the Evergreen Burial Park. Following the service, a meal and fellowship will be shared in the Tuscora Park Pavilion at New Philadelphia.
