Jane L. Murphy-Hanlon, age 79, of Walnut Hills Retirement Community at Walnut Creek and formerly of Atwood Lake, passed away Monday, May 16, 2016.
A daughter of the late Lloyd D. and Mercedes R. (Treasure) Rosenberry, Jane was born January 22, 1937 in Dover. After completing her formal education, Jane spent many years working as a nurse.
A life-long resident of the Tuscarawas and Carroll County communities, Jane embodied an incredible life force. She was a Girl Scout leader, gifted gardener, nature & animal lover, poet, painter, genealogist, stock car racing enthusiast and horse whisperer.
She is survived by children Scott (Pam) Murphy of Grandview Heights, Ohio; Kellie Murphy (Jeff Larvia) of Brooklyn, New York; a brother, James (Helen) Rosenberry of Dover, a sister, Marilyn Rosenberry of Miami, Florida; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Kay and Jack Walton of New Philadelphia and two grandchildren, Tim and Kacey Murphy of Grandview Heights, Ohio.
In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Harold David Hanlon.
In keeping with her wishes, there will be no public visitations or services.
Jane’s family wishes to extend a most gracious thank you to the staff of Walnut Hills Retirement Community for their sterling care over the past six years, to LifeCare Hospice for their compassion in her final days and to Geib Funeral Home & Crematory for their professionalism in the midst of our bereavement.
