Jane K. Shields

Jane Katherine Shields, a dear mother, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 24, 2004.Jane was born August 16, 1914, to the late Joe and Jessie Marsh of New Philadelphia, where she shared her growing up years with her many special cousins, aunts, and uncles. Locally, she was involved in radio and acting, which led her to Hollywood. Her acting career was set aside when she married the love of her life, the late Bill Shields, on June 26, 1937. They shared an extraordinary life of 56 years together, touching the lives of many. The couple resided in Annapolis, Maryland for 30 years before moving to Sun City, Arizona in 1972. Jane continued to share her interests and creative abilities in drama and acting, Ikebana, Sun City Art Museum, painting, ceramics, designing and sewing, and gracious entertaining at home.Jane’s legacy is her beautiful smile, generosity of spirit, infectious laughter, and love of life and family.Jane is survived by her three children, Joann (Howard) Denison of Dover, Marcia Osmers of New York, and Bill, Jr. of Florida; eight grandchildren, Deb Murphy of Ohio, Joe (Jackie) Murphy of Pennsylvania, Cathy (Keith) Schuster of Ohio, Karen Barriault of New York, Mark (Veronica) Osmers of Colorado, Judy (Pete) Rogers of Tennessee, Adam (Angie) Ford of Florida, and Jessica Lundgren of Hawaii; and ten great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her family and her many friends.Jane was preceded in death by her parents and beloved husband.Services and interment will be at a later date in New Philadelphia.
