Jane K.Hammond, 89, of Dover, died early Wednesday morning, October 29, 2003, at Hennis Care Centre in Dover.Born September 7, 1914, in Canal Dover, Jane was the daughter of the late Edwin V. and Vera Geib Goettge and was a l932 graduate of Dover High School.On June 21, l941, she married Robert Hammond with whom she shared nearly 51 years of marriage before his death in May, l992. She enjoyed her role as wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker and was involved in many of her children’s activities.She was a member of the First Moravian Church in Dover, and a former member and past Worthy Matron of the Tuscarawas Chapter No. 164, Order of the Eastern Star.She is survived by her four children, daughters, Charlotte (Samuel) Hollingsworth of Englewood, Beverly (Ed) Luthy of Dover, and Vera E. Hammond of Cleveland Heights; son, Jacob (Alice) Hammond of Schnecksville, PA; nine grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister, Charlotte.Services for Jane will be in the Linn-Hert-Geib Chapel on Saturday, November 1, 2003, at 11:30 AM with Pastor Allen Bergmann of Dover First Moravian Church and Pastor Samuel Hollingsworth, her son-in-law, officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service time. Burial will be at Evergreen Burial Park in New Philadelphia. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the First Moravian Church, 319 N. Walnut Street, P.O. Box 483, Dover, OH 44622.
