Jane Hubert

Jane Glosser Hubert was born March 26, 1933 in Uhrichsville, Ohio. She passed from this life early March 18, 2018 at Aultman Hospital. Parents, Dr. Thomas Vasco Glosser and Mrs. Ruth Magers Glosser, preceded her in death.

Jane graduated from Uhrichsville High School in 1951, the class salutatorian, member of A Capella choir and Buckeye Girls State representative. She began her college education at Miami of Ohio and later, transferred to the Ohio State University. A Bachelor of Arts degree in Dental Hygiene and Sociology were conferred in 1955. She returned to the Ohio State University campus in 1960 and was conferred the Master of Social Work degree in 1962.

Jane’s clinical career began with the Ohio State Board of Mental Health in Columbus, Ohio. She was appointed to clinical faculty by the Ohio State University Graduate College of Social Work, and loyally served her alma mater.

Later, she was awarded the distinction of Licensed Independent Social Worker. Jane became a clinical psychiatric sociologist for the Harding Hospital of Worthington, Ohio until retirement in 1992. Jane was renowned for her skills in psychodynamic psychotherapy and developed one of the initial geriatric-dedicated psychiatric programs in the country. She served the Godman Guild Foundation, of Columbus, Ohio. This non-profit’s mission is to reduce barriers that interfere with achievement by increasing self-efficacy and promoting leadership development.

A devoted alumni and supporter of Ohio State academic and athletic programs, Jane held life memberships in the OSU Faculty Club, President’s Club, and Alumni Association. Professional relationships included faculty, department chairmen, founding alumna of “Block O” at Ohio Stadium and various leaders of national mental health organizations. She displayed either “Ohio State” or “OSU” every day of her adult life. Ohio State University athletics were her passion and Alumni Band Day was a specific favorite only second to the games with those people from the North.

Jane’s enthusiasm for University and community continued with support of the James Center for Cancer Research, and locally, the development of the Dennison Depot, of which she was a founding member for restoration and restaurant operations. The Dennison Depot Museum maintains a room dedicated to her parents for lifelong service to the Twin Cities.

She promoted the accomplishments of both Twin City and Tuscarawas County residents. Her ability to recall Tuscarawas County history to specific detail was exemplary. A noted media and Oscar award “junkie” her television was always tuned for breaking news, sports or TMC productions.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents and survived by her son, Dr. James G Hubert, and daughter Mary Ellen (Tia) Kovach (Bruce E Fox) of Uhrichsville. She leaves grandsons John, Matthew, Thomas, James, Nicholas and Andrew.

A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Uhrichsville, Ohio on April 7, 2018 at 11:30 am with Reverend Mark Unrue. A 1:00 pm reception at 124 E. 3rd Street, Uhrichsville, Ohio will be held to celebrate her life.

Contribution to support cancer research and humane treatment of animals were a passion. Donations in memory of her life may be provided to The OSU James Center for Cancer Research or the Tuscarawas County Humane Society.
