Jane Helle

Jane L. Helle, age 98, of New Philadelphia, died Saturday, December 2, 2023, while in Schoenbrunn Health Care Center at New Philadelphia.

Born in Union Hospital at Dover on June 18, 1925, Jane was a daughter of the late Ralph and Huldo Fankhauser Sundheimer.

After graduating from Strasburg High School in 1943, Jane continued her education at the Aultman School of Nursing in Canton, Ohio in 1946. For many years Jane put her nursing degree to use as a nurse for Dr. James Adler, The Tuscarawas County Health Department, Union Hospital, and retired from the former Valley Manor, now Schoenbrunn Health Care.

On July 4, 1954, Jane married Ralph Helle. Together the couple had one son, and shared in 46 years of marriage prior to his death in 2000.

Jane enjoyed painting with watercolors and taking care of her dog.

Jane is survived by a nephew, Ray (Joan) Burris of Dover; a nephew-in-law, Gordon Green of Dellroy, her great-nieces and nephews, Todd (Alisa) Burris, Kelly Green and Steve Green and their families.

In addition to her parents and husband, Jane was preceded in death by her son, Tom Helle; a brother and sister-in-law, Edward (Jean) Sundheimer, and a nephew, Barry Sundheimer.

In keeping with Jane’s wishes there will be no public visitation or services. Burial alongside her family will take place in the Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.
