Jane Sharon Brewer, 73, a longtime resident of the New Philadelphia – Dover area, died on March 23, 2023, in Community Hospice Truman House at New Philadelphia.
Born June 30, 1949 in Cleveland, she was the daughter of Alfred John and Maudie Wilson Mancey. She was the oldest of two children, with one sister. Jane graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1967 and Muskingum University in 1971 where she majored in ART/ART Education and served as an Art Teacher in the local school systems.
She and her partner, Brenda Henning, started a business, Finders Keepers in the 90s’s with locations in New Philadelphia and Berlin, OH. They specialized in interior furnishings and design, as well as decorating and wedding planning. Jane retired in 2007. Jane enjoyed many genres of music, gardening, reading, and swimming (especially beach vacations!). She was a devoted mother, grandmother, aunt and wife.
Her ability to work with her hands, whether it was drawing, painting, sculpting, or crocheting was astounding. Jane had a joy for life, laughter, and dancing. Her kind and generous heart will be missed by all who knew her.
On January 29, 2005, in New Philadelphia, she married Ronald Leslie Brewer Jr. Mr. Brewer, her husband of 18 years, survives at home in Dover. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her former husband, Gene Thornton and two children, one son and one daughter, Sarah Dugger and husband Howard of Dover and Matthew Thornton and wife Sharon of Uhrichsville. She also leaves three grandchildren, Maisie Dugger, Tegan Dugger and Sidney Dugger as well as four step-grandchildren, Diana “Ana”, Nathaniel “Nate”, and Ella Luthy and Reagan Brewer – all dearly loved. Survivors also included her sister Susan Mancey-Sutton (Kerry) and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents. The family would like to thank the staff at Aultman Hospital, Hennis Care Center and the Truman House, for their care and kindness.
To help the family celebrate her life, you are invited to share during her visitation in the Linn-Hert-Geib
