Jane Ballard

Jane Ellen Ballard, 97, of Hennis Care Center at Dover and formerly of New Philadelphia, died early Sunday, February 05, 2017.

A daughter of the late Raymond and Carrie (Wassem) Seibold, Jane was born at New Philadelphia, Ohio on March 6, 1919.

She was a graduate of New Philadelphia High School and married Robert N. Ballard on April 5, 1942. Together the couple reared two daughters and shared in 68 years of marriage prior to his passing on April 12, 2010.

Jane was a longtime member of Holmes United Methodist Church and an active member of the Women’s Society. In her younger years, she enjoyed roller skating with friends at Tuscora Park, camping in the Smoky Mountains and Ballroom Dancing with her husband. Later in life she enjoyed playing Bridge with her friends, being with her grandchildren and celebrating special occasions with those she loved.

Survivors include two daughters, Barbara (Don) Sherrets and Carol Appleby all of New Philadelphia; four grandchildren, Lori (Tim) Porter, Lisa Fisher, David (Karen) Sherrets, and LeAnn (David) Hofstetter; nine great-grandchildren, Kasey, Andrea, Michael, Cody, Emma, Lauren, Katie, Jake and Nick and four nieces and their families.

In addition to her parents and husband, Jane was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Doris (John) Comanita and a brother, Jerry Seibold.

The family will greet guests one hour prior to services on Friday, February 10, 2017 from 1-2 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia where Pastor Roger Warnes will lead a service celebrating Jane’s life in the funeral home’s chapel at 2 PM. Burial in Maple Grove Cemetery at Dover will follow.
