James A. “Jim” Wenger, 89, of New Philadelphia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February
26, 2023 in Community Hospice – Truman House at New Philadelphia.
Born in New Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Daniel C. and Elizabeth A. (Kohler) Wenger and a 1953 graduate of New Philadelphia High School. Jim was an honorably discharged veteran having served with the United States Army. Following his discharge, Jim began a long career with the former Gradall Company at New Philadelphia. He also worked for the former Harry Humpheries Ford City and the former Riverfront Antique Mall, both at New Philadelphia. Jim was an avid motorcycle rider and dearly loved the various Harley Davidson Motorcycles that he owned.
Surviving is his nephew, Robert A. (Donna) Wenger, with whom he resided and numerous other nieces, nephews and extended family members.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Rosetta H. (Hutchins) Wenger; seven brothers, Bob Wenger, Johnny Wenger, Frank Wenger, Ted Wenger, Eugene Wenger, Dale Wenger, Glenn Wenger and four sisters, Ada Alwine, Ellen Ladrach, Sylvia Banks and Gertrude Emery.
In keeping with his wishes, Jim is to be cremated through the care of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia and a graveside service will be held Monday, March 6, 2023 at 1 PM in Jerusalem Church Cemetery at New Philadelphia with Rev. Dr. Tom Hendershot officiating and the New Philadelphia VFW will be rendering military honors.
The family requests that memorial contributions be directed to either Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663, or, Jerusalem Church, 1417 Stonecreek Road, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
