James W. “Warney” Stull, 92, of Dover and formerly of Uhrichsville, passed away peacefully, Sunday, December 13, 2020 in Cleveland Clinic-Union Hospital at Dover.
Born in Tuscarawas, he was the son of the late James H. and Bertha L. (Oswald) Stull and a United States Army veteran having served during the Korean War. Warney was a clay worker and had worked at the former Larson Clay Pipe and Superior Clay Corporation at Uhrichsville. Warney enjoyed working with his hands and had made numerous wooden toys for his grandchildren as well as crafting figurines out of clay. An avid golfer, he was proud of the fact that he had recorded two holes-in-one after reaching the age of 80. Most of all, he loved being with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are his son, Gregory A. (Bobbi) Stull of New Philadelphia and his daughter, Vickie (Yogi) Miller of Dover; a granddaughter, Kerri (Jim) Edwards of Mineral City; two grandsons, Chad (Christina) Miller of New Philadelphia and Brian (Christy) Stull of New Philadelphia and six great-grandchildren, Logan and Alanna Edwards, Hunter and Makeana Miller, Hudson and Jensen Stull.
In addition to his parents, Warney was preceded in death by his wife, Velma M. Stull; his twin sisters, June Swinderman and May Fahner; his sisters, Betty Reichman and Margaret Brady; his brother, Art Stull and his twin brother, Charles Oran Stull.
A public visitation will be held Thursday, December 17, 2020 from 6 to 8 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home at New Philadelphia. A private family funeral service will be conducted with Pastor Ben Lippert officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia where the New Philadelphia VFW will conduct military honors.
It is the family’s request that memorial contributions be made to either Community Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association.
Due to COVID 19, safety precautions will be taken. The 6-foot rule will be honored and all guests are required to wear a mask to enter the funeral home. For the safety of everyone, and to allow other guests to pay their respects, we politely ask that visitors not to linger in the funeral home and to promptly exit the building after greeting the family.
