James W. Broome, 53, of Dover, formerly of Moyock, North Carolina, died Sunday, December 05, 2004 at his home following a lengthy illness.A son of Gladys A. (Rose) Broome and the late William L. Broome, James was born July 19, 1951 in Norfolk, Virginia.Jim was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps having served as a Lance Corporal during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Market Avenue Church of Christ in Canton. He was an avid outdoorsmen and gardener, as well an enthusiast of Harley-Davidson Motorcycles and a NASCAR fan.Jim is survived by mother; two sons, Joseph Broome and his fiancé, Jennifer Locker of New Philadelphia and Nicholas R. Broome of New Philadelphia; one grandson, Evan J. Broome, one sister, Suzanne (Tim) Reed of Dover; and five brothers, John L. (Clara) Broome of Chesapeake, Virginia, Daniel W. Broome of Boise, Idaho, Norman S. Broome of New Jersey, Robert L. (Bonnie) Broome of North Carolina and Roger (Jackie) Broome of Massillon, Ohio.He was preceded in death by his father and one grandson, Logan J. Broome.Visitation will be Tuesday, December 7, 2004, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia. A funeral service will be Wednesday, December 8, 2004, at 1 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Chapel with Rev. Keith Kull officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens with the New Philadelphia V.F.W Post #1445 conducting military honors.The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 West Third Street, Dover, OH 44622.
