James R. Stephon

James “Jim” R. Stephon passed away September 10, 2012 in his home from complications of Juvenile Diabetes.
Born November 1, 1978 in Dover, Ohio, he was the son of Richard Stephon of New Philadelphia and the late Robin (McNutt) Stephon.

Jim was a 1997 graduate of New Philadelphia High School. A stay-at-home dad, Jim was devoted to his boys Kyle, 10 and Austin, 7. He was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cleveland Indians and the Cleveland Browns.

In addition to his father, Jim is survived by his sons, Kyle and Austin of the home; his brother Joe (Julie) Stephon of New Philadelphia; his grandmothers, Doris Stephon of Dover and Jessie McNutt of Mineral City; several aunts and uncles, Kathy (John) Heid, Sue (Shawn) Bower, Carla (Larry) Young, Chuck (Judy) McNutt, Ben (Dawn) McNutt, and Bart (Brenda) McNutt. He is also survived by several cousins and many loyal friends.

Jim is preceded in death by this mother, Robin Stephon; and his grandfathers, Fred Stephon and Ben McNutt, Sr.

Visitation will be held in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover on Thursday, September 13, 2012 from 2 to 4 p.m and 6 to 8 p.m. A service celebrating Jim’s life will be held in the First Christian Church at Dover on Friday beginning at 11 a.m. with Pastor Chris Mulpas officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens at Dover.

Friends are invited to the church fellowship hall for a meal following the committal service.
