James R. Gellenbeck, 1929 – 2016, 87, passed away October 21, 2016 in the Community Hospice House in New Philadelphia, Ohio.
Born in Canton on January 16, 1929, he was the son of the late Richard and Thecla Gellenbeck.
Jim graduated from Timken High School and was the owner and operator of several businesses throughout his construction and land development career. When retired, he travelled extensively throughout the United States, eventually settling in Livingston, Texas in 1995. As a result of failing health, Jim returned to Ohio in 2012 to be with family.
Jim is survived by his daughters, Debi Gellenbeck of New Philadelphia and Susan Gellenbeck of Bolivar; grandchildren, Sandi (Jim) Espinosa of Massillon and Meg Snyder of Bolivar; great-grandchildren, Colin and Olivia Espinosa; and his sisters, Rita Sowd and Doris Pertl, both of Canton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Earl Gellenbeck.
In observance of Jim’s wishes, no services will be held, and cremation will be cared for by Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory.
