James R. Moore

James R. Moore, 75, of Freeport, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 16, 2025 in his home after a period of declining health.

Born in Dennison, Ohio on January 18, 1950, he was the son of the late John Moore and Mary J. Rowland.

On February 5, 1972 he married Wilma Ourant and together they enjoyed 53 years of marriage.

Professionally, Jim worked as a coal miner, and retired as a welder from United Grinding and Machine in Canton. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. But his greatest joy was watching his family in their sporting events. For many years he could be found videotaping all the games.

Jim is survived by his wife, Wilma Moore; daughters, Angela (Corey) Smith of Tippecanoe, Jaime Moore of Freeport, and Jessica (Rich) Lorenzo of New Philadelphia; grandsons, Luke James Smith, and Jack Dylan Smith; step-granddaughter, Kayla Marie Eichelberger; and sisters, Hazel (Lofton) Moore, and Marcel Laisure.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Michael Moore; and sister, Mary Wolfe.

In keeping with Jim’s wishes, cremation care has been entrusted to Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home and Crematory. No services are planned at this time.
