James L. Sparren

James “Jim” Lee Sparren, Sr., age 78, of Dover, passed away Thursday morning, October 8, 2009, in Park Village Assisted Living Center at Dover.Born at Alliance, Ohio on May 3, 1931, he was the son of the late John Sparren and Edna (Michel) Sparren-Sorenson.From 1948-1952 Jim honorably served our country as a member of the United States Air Force; where during his enlistment spent a period of time stationed in Guam. His professional career as a truck driver spanned for thirty years; the last seven of which were spent as an employee of Dover Cryogenics.Jim enjoyed playing cards and watching television but was most enthusiastic about his opportunities to participate in various Caribbean cruises and travel abroad.On June 23, 1956, Jim married his wife, the former Ruth V. Kucera who survives. He will also be deeply missed by his children, Carole (Craig) Yoder of Baltic and James (Kimberly) Sparren, Jr. of Bolivar; and a sister, Pauline Weisenberger of Alliance, Ohio.Six grandchildren, Justin Yoder, Tara Yoder, Karyssa Gantz, James Ridenbach, Nathan Sparren, and Joey Sparren as well as two great-granddaughters, Tiffany and Megan Gantz complete the family.In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a brother, Delbert Sparren.The family will receive friends in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover on Monday, October 12, 2009, from 4:00 Â? 7:00 PM. A service celebrating Jim’s life will led by Pastor John Dunn in the Dover Funeral Center at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, October 13, 2009. In keeping with Jim’s wishes cremation will follow with the family holding a private burial at a later date.
