James “Jimmy” Carter

James William Carter, age 59 of New Philadelphia, passed away peacefully early Thursday evening, February 28, 2013, in his home.
Born in a US Army Hospital at Munich, Germany, February 15, 1954, he was a son of the late James T. and Margaret “Peg” Vanno Carter.
Best known as “Jimmy” to his family and friends, he will be remembered for his love of animals and his gifted ability with electronics. He had a kind and gentle heart that would always bring a smile to those around him. A night owl at heart, Jimmy preferred the quiet with the company of his cats, and the feeding of the gentle deer near his home.
Survivors include his brother, John Carter of New Philadelphia, his sister-in-law, Deanna Carter, also of New Philadelphia, two nieces; Jennifer Jenkins and her husband Adam of Reston, VA, and Jessica Carter of New Philadelphia, and a nephew, Johnny Carter, also of New Philadelphia.
In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth “Liz” Carter Ulm.
Mr. Carter is to be cremated, and his family will gather to receive friends Tuesday from 1 until 2 in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. The Rev. Hugh B. Berry will lead Mr. Carter’s memorial service Tuesday at 2 PM. A light reception will follow the ceremony.
