James “Jim” Kelly

James “Jim” Russell Kelly, 91, of Brightwood, passed away early Saturday morning, July 14, 2018 in Hennis Care Center at Dover following a period of declining health.

Born in Midvale on June 24, 1927, he was the son of the late Ruth Nora Beans. After completing his formal education, Jim worked with the former Union Camp for more than 40 years prior to retirement.

On February 20, 1954, Jim married his wife, the former Joanne I. Gordon.

Jim was an avid golfer, having 12 hole-in-ones throughout his career. He also loved to tend to his gardens and spend time with his family. Jim was a lifetime member of the B.P.O.E. #510.

He leaves behind his wife, Joanne, of 64 years; his daughters, Diane Aydt of Dover, Linda Kelly of Columbus, Brenda (Dale) Eibel of Byesville, and Dana (Greg) McQuaid of Uhrichsville; his grandson, Jeremy DeMattio of Dover; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; his sisters-in-law, Gail (Don) McCreery of Dover and Janice Gordon of Ottawa, O.; and several nieces and one nephew.

In addition to his mom, Jim was preceded in passing by his infant son, Roger A. Kelly.

Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 from 5 to 8 p.m. A service celebrating Jim’s life will be held in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, beginning at 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens at Dover.

Friends and family are invited to the Geib Family Center in New Philadelphia following the committal service where a dessert reception will be held.
