December 31, 1960 — July 7, 2021

James Dwayne Davis, age 60, of New Philadelphia, died Wednesday, July 7, 2021, in his residence following a brief illness.

Born in Union Hospital at Dover on December 31, 1960, Jim was a son of Mary Schmucker Crousser of Florida and the late Gary Dwayne Davis.

He delivered for Dover News for many years and enjoyed attending auctions. He was always looking to find the right piece to bring home, repair, and then rehome. Jim was a skilled handyman who also loved playing the lottery and doing his best to beat the odds and win big. However, his biggest winnings was his family. He lived his life each and every day to care for them in the best way he could.

In addition to his mother, Jim is survived by his wife, the former Kimberly Gordon; his children, Christina Shriver of Alliance, Sally Runner of Arizona, and MaryAnn Davis of Massillon; a step-son, Christopher Smith of Canton; his grandchildren, Jozlynn, Riley, Owen, Ella, Kaleigh, Jace, Ridge, Trevor, and Kelsey, and his mother-in-law, Sarah Stanley of Dover.

Completing the family are his siblings, Terry Davis, Robert “Bobby” Davis, Debbie Davis, and Carol Davis; his sisters-in-law, Misty (David) Blackford, Denise (Tim) Carpenter and Michelle Hans; a special nephew, Jacob (Felecia) Schiefer; special nieces, Chelsey Miller and Madison (Elijah) Schiefer as well as many other nieces and nephews, many cousins, and his best friends, Matt and Tim, who always went above and beyond for him.

In addition to his father, Jim was preceded in death by a brother, Roger William “Billy” Davis and a brother-in-law, Donald E. Gordon.

In keeping with Jim’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or services, cremation care will be conducted through Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory and the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home at New Philadelphia.
