James Lee Dusenberry, 85, of Dover passed away peacefully in his home on March 16, 2023 under the care of Community Hospice.
Born in Anderson, Indiana on October 13, 1937, he was the son of the late James W. and Mary J. (Olainosiu) Dusenberry. After graduating from Dover High School in 1956, he spent 2 years as a pitcher and first baseman with the Cincinnati Reds in 1957 to 1958.
Jim served as a Dover City Council member, a tax administrator and with General Electric for 10 years. He continued his employment with Bill Hawk, Inc. where he served 10 years as an office manager. Then, he ended his career with the State of Ohio Auditor’s office as an examiner and in various management positions.
Jim was a former member of the B.P.O.E. Lodge #510 and the First Moravian Church. He was also an excellent artist, drawing and painting scenes of the west. In 2000, he and Sharyn went on a 2-month vacation out west. He loved to read of its history and collect western artifacts. His favorite literature was Sacagawea and Don Quijote.
Jim married his soulmate and wife of 46 years, the former Sharyn K. Johnson who survives. Additionally, his family includes his children Lisa, Lori, Todd, Amy and Laura; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters; and 1 brother.
In addition to his parents, Jim as preceded in passing by his son, Mark Dusenberry; his grandson, Zac Wright.
Jim’s family wishes to thank Park Village of Dover for their excellent care while he was receiving rehabilitation. In his final weeks, Community Hospice provided exceptional care, especially from his nurse, Tina, and his aide, Sonja.
No public visitation or services are scheduled at this time.
