James Dale Gintz, age 84, of New Philadelphia, died Thursday, October 06, 2016, in Country Club Retirement Center at Dover following a period of declining health.
A son of the late Harold J. and Bessie V. (Walton) Gintz, Jim was born at New Philadelphia on November 7, 1931.
Jim was a graduate of Dover High School and worked as an auto mechanic for a number of years prior to his retirement from Kerr Quality Auto Repair at New Philadelphia. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He loved being a pilot, racing his beloved #51 Midget Racer, following NASCAR and vacationing at Myrtle Beach.
He is survived by a sister, Carol (Larry) Kaelin of Stone Creek; a step-daughter, Jackie (Ralph) Labus, his companion, Dode Krocker and a step-daughter-in-law, Cyl Krocker all of New Philadelphia as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Marcella Gintz, his brothers, Gerald and Robert Gintz; two step-sons, John “Sonny” Krocker, and David Krocker as well as a step-daughter, Mary Lou Wiltse.
The family will gather to greet guests on Monday, October 10, 2016 at 10 AM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Father Jeff Coning will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 11 AM in Sacred Heart Church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia. Following the service, a meal will be shared in St. Ambrose Hall, adjacent to the church.
