James E. Creal, 69, of New Philadelphia passed away in Union Hospital at Dover on June 12, 2015.
Born in Dover on October 3, 1945, he was the son of the late Myron and Mildred (Gibbs) Creal.
Jim graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1964. Then, he joined the United States Navy where he served as a Seabee. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam and was awarded a Purple Heart. Upon return from his service, Jim continued his formal education at Kent State University.
Jim’s professional career began as a machinist at Dyneer Corporation in Canton where he was employed for 17 years. He then was self-employed as an oil and gas well pumper until his retirement in 2007.
Jim’s faith was nurtured at Schoenbrunn Moravian Church in New Philadelphia. He was also a member of the New Philadelphia VFW Post #1445 and the D.A.V. Dover Chapter.
Jim will be deeply missed by his wife, the former Mary Ann Tisdale whom he married on February 22, 1969; his daughters, Lori McCarthy of Lancaster, O. and Jami (Jason) Bailey of New Philadelphia; his grandchildren, Ashlyn Bailey, Shelby (Tony) Guglielmi, Brady Rose McCarthy and Gavin Bailey; his sisters, Carolyn (Charlie) Tuck of Mims, Florida, and Myra (Bud) Eckhardt of Marietta, Ohio. Several nieces and nephews complete the family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant granddaughter.
Cremation will be cared for through Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory. A graveside service will be held in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia at a later date.
