James E. Bresson, 80, a resident of Park Village Care Center at Dover, passed away on Monday, May 8, 2023 in Cleveland Clinic-Mercy Medical Center at Canton, following a period of declining health.
Born in Macedonia, he was the son of the late Earl A. and Mary Jane (Haymaker) Bresson and a graduate of Jackson High School in Jackson Township. Following high school, James entered the United States Navy and proudly served his country before being honorably discharged in 1966. James had retired from International Automotive Components at Canton after 30 years with the company.
A man of great faith, James, along with his wife, had attended Faith Family Church at Canton where they served as greeters. James enjoyed riding motorcycles and traveling with his wife. He was a generous person who possessed a big heart and loved his family deeply.
Surviving is his wife, Norma I. (Crum) Bresson of Park Village at Dover; two daughters, Janet (Mike) McConnell of Tuscarawas and Linda (Craig) Borgstede of Covington, Louisiana; a son, John T. Bresson, Sr. of Honolulu, Hawaii; five grandchildren, Jason (Rachelle) Gibson, Julie (Scott) Treherne, J.T (Megan) Bresson, Jr., Tabatha and Savana Borgstede; three sisters, Janice Bresson of North Canton, Marilyn Zeleski of Forest City, Arkansas and Mary Jane Weldon of Akron; a brother-in-law, James (Janet) Crum of Massillon; numerous great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews, complete his family.
In addition to his parents, James was also preceded in death by his Step-Father, Leonard Starcher, a brother, Frank Bresson and his Father-in-law and Mother-in-law, James, and Audrey Crum.
Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home at New Philadelphia on Saturday, May 13, 2023 from 10 to 11 AM where a service celebrating James’s life will begin at 11 AM with Pastor Lisa Meese officiating. Burial will be in East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia where the New Philadelphia VFW will conduct military honors.
