James Robert Austin, 69, of Dover, died Monday, January 9, 2017 in Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia following a short illness.
A son of the late Frederick and Doris (Crowell) Austin, Jim was born February 24, 1947 at Newport News, Virginia.
Jim was a jack of all trades and was the owner and operator of various business over the years. He was a remote control airplane enthusiast, he enjoyed riding motorcycles and playing video games and having friendly debates with family and friends. Most of all he cherished his family and the time spent with them.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Harmon) Austin whom he married on March 19, 1965; his children, James Robert (Chastity) Austin Jr. and Michelle Marie Austin both of Dover; his grandchildren, Jacob Herman, Cameron Austin, Alix (companion, Mark Dugan) Austin, Ashley (companion, Ben McCoury) Austin and Steevey Newsome; two great grandchildren, Landon Newsome and Makendall Dugan and a brother, Michael Austin of Arizona.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Steven Allen Austin.
There will be no calling hours and a private family service will be held at a later date. Cremation will take place through the care of the Geib Funeral Center at Dover.
