James Anthony Glass

July 24, 1981 — September 1, 2006

James Anthony “Tony” Glass, age 25, of Mineral City, and formerly of Dover, died Friday following a motorcycle accident while traveling to work. Best known as Tony to his friends and family, he was born at Dover July 24, 1981, a son of James R. “Jim” Glass and Karen Lee Glass of Dover. A 2000 graduate of Tuscarawas Valley High School and Buckeye Career Center, Tony was the third generation in his family to work together at Glass Lumber and Builder’s Supply Co. of New Philadelphia, a company founded by his late grandfather, Anthony F. Glass, and his grandmother Dorothy E. Glass of New Philadelphia. A hard worker, Tony was known for always having a smile on his face Â? and for making others smile, whether by playing a practical joke, telling a funny story, or by his trademark style of just clowning around. When not busy at work, Tony enjoyed the outdoors Â? hunting, riding his four wheeler, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his girlfriend of nearly five years, Erika Grafe, with whom he lived. The couple looked forward to a lifetime together, and cherished the son born to them just six months ago Â? Anthony James Glass Â? who they have nicknamed “A. J.” In addition to his parents, grandmother, girlfriend, and son, Tony’s family includes his sister, Dr. Ericka Glass of Fairlawn and her boyfriend, Dr. Kurtis Stemple. Numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and co-workers and friends complete this tight-knit family. Friends are invited to call Tuesday afternoon from 2-4 and from 6-8 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia where Pastor Jim Borton will lead funeral services Wednesday morning at 11AM in the funeral home’s chapel. Burial will follow at Evergreen Burial Park. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to an educational fund that will benefit Tony’s infant son, A. J. Memorial envelopes will be available at the funeral home during visitation and services, or contributions may be sent in care of Chase Bank, 141 East High Avenue, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
