James Allen Waltz

James Allen Waltz, 80, of New Philadelphia, went to be with the Lord on Friday morning, August 10, 2007 in Hennis Care & Retirement Centre at Dover after recently making a personal commitment to his Lord.A son of the late Herbert and Celeste (Black) Waltz, Jim was born September 11, 1926 at Navarre, Ohio.After graduating from New Philadelphia High School in 1944, Jim joined the United States Army. He served in the Philippines and Japan during World War II. After returning from the service, Jim’s father encouraged him to join him at his automobile service shop for. Jim worked along side his father at Herb Waltz Auto Service for many years and after his father’s retirement, Jim owned and operated Jim Waltz Auto Service.Jim, who was confirmed in the Lutheran Church, enjoyed reading Zane Gray Novels and listening to music by Glenn Miller. He enjoyed auto racing and bowling and he cherished the dear relationships he formed during his stay at Hennis Care & Retirement Centre.He is survived by two sons, James D. Waltz of Sheffield Lake, Ohio and Ronald P. Waltz of New Philadelphia, a brother, Rev. William Waltz and his wife Elizabeth of New Philadelphia; a niece Celeste Waltz and her friend Kim Gough of Ypsilanti, Michigan and two nephews, Dan Waltz and his wife Patti of Saline, Michigan and William E. Waltz of Phoenix, Arizona.Jim was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Don R.
