James A. Freehahn

James A. Freehahn, 73, of New Philadelphia, passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2009 in Mercy Medical Center at Canton, Ohio following a courageous battle with lung cancer. He went to be with the lord in prayer surrounded by his family.A son of the late Harry and Melva (Alloway) Freehahn, James was born at Newcomerstown, Ohio on December 5, 1935.James graduated from New Philadelphia High School and then served in the United States Air Force until his discharge on October 16, 1961.He was an avid stock car fan and enjoyed fishing.He is survived by his children, James (Kevin) Freehahn of Dover, Michael (Diane) Freehahn and Peggy Freehahn both of New Philadelphia; his grandchildren, Michael Matthews, David Freehahn, Lisa Freehahn, Kerian Meehan, Brooke Meehan, Michelle Hostetler, Christy Hostetler all of New Philadelphia and Ashley Blatt of Huntington, West Virginia and his great grandchildren, Kyra, Kylee and Kayden.James was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Selma “Sally” (Edwards) Freehahn whom he married on May 28, 1961.Friends may call on Tuesday, August 4, 2009 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating James’ life will follow on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Hugh Berry officiating. Inurnment will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at 1 p.m. in West Lawn Cemetery at Newcomerstown.Contributions may be made in James’ memory to the Hospice House, 201 West Third Street, Dover, OH 44622.
