Jacqueline “Jackie” Marty, 83, of New Philadelphia, Ohio, passed away Monday, December 27, 2021, after a long illness with vascular dementia.
She was born in Scio, Ohio on September 18, 1938, to Jack and Lois (Smart) Dunlap. She married John Marty on June 22, 1963.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Marty; son, Roger Taylor; sister, Sharon Berni; and her parents.
She is survived by her sister, Carol Kerns of New Philadelphia; and her children, Michael (Rhonda) Taylor of Dennison, Ohio, Suzanne (Matthew) Tyler of Massillon, Ohio, and Kimberly Stallons of St. Louis, Missouri.
Her grandchildren include: Tracy Soho, Kimberly Taylor, Gabriel Taylor, Josh Taylor, Amanda McDonald, Kyle Tyler, Kayla Tyler, Kameron Tyler, and Kennadie Stallons.
After getting her GED, she became an LPN and eventually went back to school and completed her Registered Nurse associate degree at Kent State University. She enjoyed working in nursing homes, caring for others, and spent the majority of her career working at Schoenbrunn Healthcare Center, where she retired at the age of 72.
In retirement, she enjoyed crossword puzzles, attending concerts, gambling and traveling with her sister, Carol. She loved music, especially The Eagles and Rod Stewart.
During her stay at Park Village Southside, everyone came to know and love her. She spent many hours “assisting” the nurses with rounds and managing the desk. She filled the halls with her laughter. Our family would like to give special thanks to all the hard-working staff for keeping her safe, cared for, and entertained during her stay. We know it was quite a challenge and was greatly appreciated.
Jackie’s wishes were to be cremated and buried alongside her husband and son in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia. There will be no calling hours and the burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association in her name.
