Jacqueline E. Schlingman, 82, of Dover, passed away in Country Club Retirement Campus on July 17, 2016 following a period of declining health.
Born in Canton on June 12, 1934, she was the daughter of the late John E. and Helen I. (Saunders) Booth.
After graduating from Dover High School in 1952, Jacquie continued her formal education receiving her diploma from the School of Nursing at The Cuyahoga County Hospital. Her professional career spanned more than 50 years serving in a variety of capacities at area hospitals. She also shared her knowledge with students at Buckeye Career Center where she was an educator.
Jacquie was an expert craft person, and also loved to read.
Her family includes her daughters, Misty (Jack Jr.) Lantz of Lexington, and Kris (Joe) Slaight of New Philadelphia; her siblings, Kathy Matthus of New Philadelphia, Cheryl (companion, Allen Franklin) Booth of Strasburg, and Jim (Carol) Booth of New Philadelphia; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Stephen Slaight and her infant daughter, Lucia Slaight.
A memorial service will be held in the First United Methodist Church at New Philadelphia on Monday, July 25 beginning at 1:30 p.m. Inurnment will follow in East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia. Friends and family are invited to the church fellowship hall for a meal following the committal service.
