Jacqualine (Gramcracker) Lila ZehelNew Philadelphia, Ohio(Formally of Kent, Ohio)Jackie passed away peacefully on February 17th, 2006 after a brief illness with all her children at her side.Jackie was born October 1, 1926 in California, PA. She was the daughter of John and Mary (Timko) Major. Husband Rudolph A. Zehel, two brothers and one sister preceded her. Jackie is survived by her five children, Alexis (Richard) Sternhell of Brynmawn, Pa., Valerie (Jeff) Tucker of New Philadelphia, Ohio, Jeffrey Zehel of Syracuse, N.Y., Marsha Salehi of Columbia, Maryland, Andrea (Bruce) Byers of Atlanta, Georgia., and nine grandchildren, Kara, Philip, Stephanie, Patrick, Jessica, Brandon, Andrew, Samantha and Hannah. Jackie was an RN. She received her training at Christ Hospital School of Nursing in Jersey City, N.J. and her bachelor’s degree from St. Joseph’s College. She worked as an emergency room nurse for several years at Washington Hospital in Washington, Pa.and later at Trumbull Memorial and St. Joseph hospitals in Warren, Ohio. She finally retired from nursing after spending fifteen years as an industrial nurse at GE in Ravenna and later Chrysler in Twinsburg.Jackie enjoyed swimming with her friends at the Kent Roosevelt Pool. She also loved growing and arranging flowers. Her favorite past time was spending time watching her grandchildren grow and excel in sports, theater, music and academic achievement. She celebrated life and was a devoted wife, a loving mother and a good friend to all who knew her. Jacqulaine was a member of St. Patrick’s Church at Kent O. She will be deeply missed.A mass celebrating her life will be held at St. Patrick’s Church, 313 N. Depeyster St. Kent, Ohio on Saturday, February 25th at 11:30 am. The final service will be at Standing Rock cemetery in Kent immediately following the mass. .
