Jacob R. Steiner, 87, of Dover, died Thursday August 18, 2005 at Union Hospital in Dover.A son of the late Edward E. Steiner and Melinda “Lina” Burkey Steiner Jacob was born July 10, 1918 in Fresno, White Eyes Twp in Coshocton County OhioA veteran of WW II, he served in the U.S. Army in North Africa and Italy. Jacob was the recipient of the European Africa Middle Eastern Service Medal with 5 Bronze Stars. After returning from duty he moved to Canton Ohio where he worked for the Norfolk and Western Railroad as a clerk until his retirement.He is survived by his wife Marie D. Reed Steiner whom he married September 10, 1946 in Canton O.; two sons Edward Steiner (Darla Hinderer) of Louisville, Jerry (Susie) Steiner of Canton; two daughters, Sheila Kamler of New Philadelphia and Karen (Danny) George of Louisville; six grandchildren, Edward Steiner II of Beach City, Chris Steiner of Tampa Fl., Linde Steiner of Louisville, Desiree Steiner of Canton, C. Patrick Kamler II of Lima O. and Kathleen George of Louisville; one sister-in-law Mary Steiner of Coshocton and several nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by three brothers, two sisters, and his son-in-law Charles Kamler.Services officiated by the Rev. Hugh Berry will be private with no calling hours. The Geib Funeral Center 5600 North Wooster Ave. in Dover is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Cemetery in Canton, O. at a later date.Memorials honoring Jacob’s life may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
