Jack W. Bonzi, 85, of Beacon Pointe Rehabilitation Center in Uhrichsville, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2015, while in the care of Community Hospice House following a period of declining health.
Born in Wainwright on April 29, 1930, he was the son of the late Marco and Lena Comignaghi. After graduating in 1948 from Tuscarawas High School, he joined the United States Army and served a short time prior to his medical discharge.
Jack’s professional career as a barber spanned his entire lifetime. He was the co-owner and operator of Bill and Jack’s Downtown Barbershop in New Philadelphia and later barbered at the Kirkland Air Force Base in New Mexico. Jack also served in hotel/motel management with the L. K. Motel company.
Locally, Jack was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Church in New Philadelphia. He also loved his involvement with The Little Theatre and Trumpet in the Land.
Jack is survived by his daughters, Therese (Tommy) Salinovich of Venice, Louisiana and Annette (Craig) Peyton of New Orleans; his siblings, Lena (Dick) Stellarini of Canton, Helen (Dan) Guspyt of Port Washington, and John (Judy) Comignaghi of Wainwright; his three grandchildren, Shannon (Dustin), Grace (Jarred), and Hope; his great-grandchildren, Britten, Jarred, Jackson, Gianna, Noah, and Easton; his brothers-in-law, John Decker and Robert Karl, both of New Philadelphia; his sister-in-law, Vie Comignaghi of Savannah, Georgia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rose M. Bonzi on June 13, 1999; and his siblings, Anna Decker, Gena Karl, and Robert Comignaghi.
Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Monday, May 11 from 9:00 – 10:15 a.m. Father Jeff Coning will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial immediately following visitation at 10:30 am in Sacred Heart Church. Inurnment will follow in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia.
